Pendants 

A pendant is one of the forms of jewelleries. They are made of precious metals (platinum gold, silver), ordinary metals, gems and semiprecious stones. The pendants are often offered in a set with earrings and a ring.

Despite to the fact that pendants were considered to be the women’s jewelleries, recently more and more men have started to express their interest towards the pendants. Chains can be replaced with the special wristlets made of leather, nylon, wool, silk or special types of rubber.

The pendants are made not only from metal and stones, bones, plastic, glass, porcelain and wood can also be used to make the pendants. The pendants differ in form, size and decoration. They can be decorated with enamel, engravings and different drawings.   

Medallions are very similar to the pendants. They are often round or oval. They might look like a case for the photo or some dear item reminding about the loved one.

The medallions are also made of different metal compounds. Their surface is usually decorated with the garlands using gems and semiprecious stones. The medallions car be worn at around neck in the chain or bend. The peak of medallions popularity was reached during the first half of the 19th century. The medallions were used to be worn with black or colourful velvet ribbon. Today they have lost their popularity but it might be an excellent present if you want to be original and nice.
